Kevin Lockau’s acceptance speech after winning the Saidye Bronfman Award.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2009 Kevin Lockau received the Saidye Bronfman Award for excellence in the fine crafts, presented by Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Governor General of Canada, at a ceremony at Rideau Hall. One of the eight Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts, the Saidye Bronfman Award, which recognizes excellence in the fine crafts, is funded from the proceeds of a $1.5 million endowment given to the Canada Council by The Samuel and Saidye Bronfman Family Foundation in 2006.  The video clip is of Lockau’s acceptance speech given that evening.  Many thanks to the people at the Canada Council for the Arts for making this available to us.  For a link to more on the 2009 Awards, please check out  2009 Governor General’s Awards in Visual and Media Arts
